Boost Your Students’ Joy and Positivity

Our Target Language Warm-Up Chants have had a big impact on both the learning and the engagement in our classrooms. The first one encourages students to speak only in the target language and to refrain from speaking English. The second one provides ten very helpful expressions to help students succeed in only using the target language. These chants are a great way to start the class as they only take one minute and get students focused on the goal of practicing the language!

And now we have another one available in both French and Spanish! (A big thank you to Caleb Howard for his creativity and his chanting skills in Spanish!) This one is provides bit of accountability to approach learning French or Spanish with joy and positivity in a fun and uplifting way.

I created this chant partially for a particular group of students who were not always approaching their learning of French with a positive attitude. Have you ever had a class like that? :) This was a group of 6th graders, and I have to say that it has helped them be more positive. Now, when I sense a bit of reluctance to participate, I start chanting, “La positivité, la positivité!” as a reminder to them.

In any case, I hope that this one-minute chant can help with a boost of energy and fun for your students, leaving them feeling empowered, with a renewed sense of readiness to practice French or Spanish! We would love to know if your students responded well to these!
